Destination

North Somerset has miles of spectacular coastline and beautiful countryside. It is home to the coastal towns of Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon and Portishead. Weston is a traditional seaside town, with a superb newly refurbished seafront and miles of sandy beach. Clevedon is a charming Victorian seaside town, with picturesque coastal walks and Portishead is an historic port with a Marina as the centrepiece of a large urban renewal programme.

Amenities

Weston has two sandy beaches, at Weston and Sand Bay, both two miles long. Weston's seafront includes the new Grand Pier, donkey and swingboat rides, a 40 metre observation wheel, seaquarium, a land train and miniature railway, a children's water adventure play park, crazy golf and a variety of catering and souvenir outlets. It also has zones for wind and water sports, boat trips and seafront parking. Clevedon has a smaller beach with a grade 1 listed pier from which there are boat trips down the coast and to Wales, and close to the promenade a variety of attractions at Salthouse Fields. Portishead has an open air pool, Lake Grounds park overlooking the channel, 150 berth marina and stunning public art trail.

Playhouse Theatre and Winter Gardens in Weston,cinemas, nightclubs,bandstand concerts, carnivals, year-round events.

Shopping

Weston has a pedestrianised high street and individual stores, plus indoor mall. Clevedon has eclectic individual shops on Hill Road. Portishead and inland Nailsea have thriving high streets. Also there are rural farm shops and monthly farmers markets throughout the district.

There are over 500 places to eat out, catering for all tastes, and opportunities to sample local products
