Destination

Discover the secret charms of this famous resort, with its unique mix of a bustling fishing quarter and picturesque, offbeat Old Town.

Steeped in history and maritime heritage you will find 3 miles of coastline, Europe's largest beach-launched fishing fleet in action, and also the unique tall, black net huts (which date from the 17th century and were used to hang fishing nets to dry). Don't forget to buy your freshly caught fish to take home.

The smash hit ITV period drama series 'Foyles War', which stars Michael Kitchen, is set and shot in Hastings Old Town.

3 miles of coast - with wet sand at low tide and fine shingle. There is a dog ban on Hastings beach between May-Sept, together with daily beach cleaning, a dog warden patrol and public toilets. A range of water sports is also available. Hastings Adventure Golf offers 3 courses including the famous 'Florida-Style' adventure golf.

Places to Visit

Hastings Castle houses the audio-visual 1066 Story. The East Hill Cliff Lift is Britain's steepest funicular railway and rises to Hastings Country Park. Other key attractions include Smugglers Adventure, Shipwreck Museum, the Blue Reef Aquarium; Hastings Museum & Art Gallery and the Jerwood Gallery, a world class facility housing a collection of 20th & 21st century British art.

Entertainment

The White Rock and the Stables theatres provide a comprehensive programme of entertainment. Hastings Old Town's Electric Palace is an alternative cinema with its own bar. There are also several nightclubs and many bars around the town. 'Stade Saturdays'is a programme of open air performance art events on the Stade Open Space, weekly from June - September.

Hastings & St Leonards offers every kind of shopping experience, from major high street brands to obscure but charming antiques and art boutiques.

Summerfields, Falaise and Hillcrest are the 3 major sports centres. Horntye Sports Complex houses a county standard cricket pitch and a host of other sports facilities.
