Destination

Come to Chesterfield where you’re sure of a friendly welcome and a wide range of things to do. Spend a day in the town to find out how the ‘Crooked Spire’ got its twist. Or go bargain hunting on Chesterfield Market every Monday, Friday or Saturday. Call on a Thursday for a rummage around the Flea Market. Take some time to follow the free audio trail around the town centre or drop into Chesterfield Museum. Stay overnight and explore the area – Chatsworth, Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle are just a few of the things you’ll find just a short drive away.

What's on Offer

Places to Visit

Chesterfield is famous for its unique and unusual ‘Crooked Spire’ Church and its open air Market, one of the biggest in the country, but don’t think that’s all there is! For full details of what’s on offer, browse our website www.visitchesterfield.info. To give you a hint, here’s a run down of the highlights.

Peak District National Park – fantastic scenery, limestone dales, steep grit edges
Chatsworth – the world famous Palace of the Peak
Hardwick Hall – a tribute to the Elizabethan fascination with symmetry and glass
Bolsover Castle – a fairy tale mansion on a site where a fortress once stood
Chesterfield Museum – the story of Chesterfield from its days as a Roman fort

Entertainment

Events include the Medieval Market, Chesterfield Well Dressing and the Arts & Market Festival. Enjoy your evenings in Chesterfield with a night out at the Pomegranate Theatre, or catch a show at the Winding Wheel Concert Hall, or a film at the Cineworld cinema.

Shopping

The best place for bargain hunting is the Market on Monday, Friday and Saturday all year round, or the Thursday Flea Market, but Chesterfield has all the High Street names that you would expect. Take time to seek out smaller, specialised retailers hiding in out of the way corners like the Yards Speciality Shopping or along Chatsworth Road.
